Tech Lead - Autonomy Performance, Robotaxi

• Join Wayve’s Robotaxi team as Tech Lead for Autonomy Performance, working hybrid from London. • Help take Wayve’s AI Driver to its first public-scale deployment with fare-paying riders on global ride-hail platforms. • Own the performance operating system that decides whether the autonomy is good enough to ship. • Define what “performance” means from scratch for an end-to-end learned driving system. • Lead cross-functional execution across AV core, evaluation, robotics, robot software and SRE without direct reports. • Stay hands-on in data and code to speed up debugging and unblock delivery.

• Show cross-functional engineering leadership, steering complex delivery across teams without direct line management. • Bring a strong product and customer focus that connects performance metrics to rider experience and launch readiness. • Bring strong hands-on autonomy or robotics performance debugging experience with real-world, time-series signals. • Understand learned systems and ML-driven robotics, including model behaviour, failure modes and measurement pitfalls. • Write production-quality Python, C++ and SQL to diagnose problems and validate improvements. • Show experience owning releases to a fleet of robots or vehicles, including gates, rollback plans and regressions. • Know modern data and observability stacks such as Databricks/SQL and Grafana.

• Bring experience in robotaxi, ride-hail or other public-facing autonomous vehicle deployments. • Show experience producing external performance reporting for partners such as Uber. • Use Looker or similar BI tools for performance dashboards. • Bring experience with internal evaluation and simulation tooling for autonomy stacks. • Show experience integrating new model features and architectures into live operations.

• Own the Robotaxi autonomy performance framework for driving and pick-up/drop-off, including metrics and dashboards. • Build the performance improvement loop: detect issues, triage, drive root-cause analysis and land fixes. • Define and enforce performance release gates and regression detection for production deployments. • Own readiness calls and follow through on incidents. • Create trusted, repeatable performance reporting to share directly with partners such as Uber. • Integrate new model features and architectures from core engineering into live Robotaxi operations. • Align roadmaps across AV core, evaluation, robotics, robot software, triage and SRE to performance outcomes. • Ship a new driving model deployment and robot software release end to end within your first 90 days.
