Senior ML Performance Engineer, Inference Optimisation

• Join Wayve’s ML performance team as a Senior ML Performance Engineer, working hybrid from London. • Optimise inference so large transformer-based models run efficiently on low-cost, low-power in-vehicle compute. • Work hands-on across ML systems, compilers, runtimes, kernels and embedded deployment. • Find bottlenecks and implement performance improvements on edge accelerators and GPUs. • Partner with model developers so deployment-aware decisions are made early. • Help turn research models into reliable production systems for Wayve’s driving product.

• Bring experience improving performance in production systems with latency, memory, bandwidth, power, thermal or cost constraints. • Work hands-on with at least one stack such as TensorRT, CUDA, Qualcomm QNN, Triton or OpenCL. • Move comfortably from high-level model behaviour down to kernel and runtime execution. • Show strong software engineering fundamentals in debugging, profiling, testing and maintainable code. • Communicate clearly and collaborate well across ML, systems and deployment teams.

• Bring experience deploying or benchmarking ML models on embedded or edge devices. • Know NVIDIA and/or Qualcomm SoCs and their performance tooling. • Write proficient Python and C++. • Show experience supporting other engineers or shaping technical direction in a small team.

• Profile inference performance across model graphs, compiler and runtime behaviour, kernel execution and memory movement. • Implement and validate optimisations such as fusion, scheduling, quantisation-aware performance and custom kernels. • Build benchmarking and regression tests to track performance across models, devices and releases. • Optimise models for edge targets such as NVIDIA Orin/Thor and Qualcomm platforms. • Work with model developers on performance trade-offs early in the design process. • Contribute to team tooling, documentation and technical discussions on ML performance.
