Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer, Onboard Test Automation

• Join Wayve’s Onboard Test Automation team as a Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer, working hybrid from London. • Validate onboard software systems before they reach full-vehicle testing. • Work across a range of embedded compute platforms and operating systems. • Improve software quality and enable faster iteration across multiple teams. • Scale testing by building automated tests and helping developers validate their work earlier. • Make intermittent failures easier to reproduce and diagnose.

• Bring experience testing embedded software systems, ideally on Linux or QNX. • Develop automated tests in Python, C++ or a similar language. • Bring hands-on experience with embedded hardware and hardware/software interactions. • Debug complex system-level problems using logs, metrics and controlled experiments. • Understand automation, integration testing and system validation principles. • Collaborate comfortably across software, hardware and infrastructure teams.

• Bring experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) environments. • Show experience testing sensor or data pipelines. • Use CI/CD systems such as Buildkite. • Bring experience in robotics or autonomous systems. • Show experience with real-time software.

• Design, develop and run automated tests for onboard subsystems such as the OS, middleware and sensors. • Validate software behaviour on embedded hardware within hardware-in-the-loop environments. • Build automated integration and system-level tests for embedded Linux or QNX software. • Check reliability across sensor pipelines, middleware, timing, latency, data integrity and dropped messages. • Work with software engineers to find test gaps and build coverage for new and existing features. • Debug and triage system-level issues across software and hardware boundaries. • Contribute to CI pipelines and reusable test frameworks that enable developer self-service testing. • Shift existing validation tests earlier in the development cycle to reduce full-vehicle testing risk.
