• Join Wayve’s Simulation team as a Machine Learning Engineer, Synthetic Data, working hybrid from London.
• Build, scale and optimise next-generation world model architectures such as GAIA and its successors.
• Post-train world models for new embodiments and behaviours, including rig transfer, pose transfer and dashcam restaging.
• Generate multimodal synthetic driving data at scale and land it in the same training stack used for real driving.
• Sit between ML research and engineering, working with scientists and platform engineers.
• Shape how fast Wayve can train and deploy driving models on vehicles it has barely collected data from.
📋 Job Requirements
• Bring 4+ years in applied ML or research engineering with a track record of training and shipping neural nets.
• Write strong Python and PyTorch code, and work comfortably with GPU training, debugging and model code.
• Bring hands-on experience with video, generative or world models such as diffusion, flow-matching or novel-view synthesis.
• Understand cameras and 3D geometry, including multi-camera rigs, intrinsics/extrinsics and reprojection.
• Show evidence of taking generated or simulated data into a downstream model and measuring its impact.
• Run generation or training reliably at real scale with multi-GPU jobs and workflow orchestration.
• Work collaboratively and experimentally with researchers and platform engineers, owning a capability end to end.
🌟 Nice-to-have
• Bring experience in autonomous driving, robotics or another embodied AI domain.
• Show experience with inference optimisations such as distillation, shortcut models, KV caching or step-count reduction.
• Use workflow orchestration tools such as Flyte for large-scale GPU generation jobs.
• Bring experience with reinforcement learning, reward models or behaviour cloning for driving models.
• Follow research in video generation, camera transfer and data-centric training, and turn it into shipped results.
🎯 Responsibilities
• Post-train and iterate GAIA-class world models for rig transfer, pose transfer and related conditioning.
• Own the generation loop from config to large-scale GPU inference to training-ready artefacts with clear lineage.
• Land synthetic data in driving-model training through binarisation, mix ratios, quality filters and impact experiments.
• Diagnose and fix geometry, calibration and controllability failures that stop generated video being training-grade.
• Improve throughput and valid-generation rate through inference optimisations and self-serve workflows.
• Expand coverage to new OEM vehicle platforms and safety-critical scenarios such as ELK and AEB.
• Partner with world-model researchers, infra and driving-model owners so generation, evaluation and training stay one system.
Wayve is one of the most exciting AI companies in the UK right now. They are tackling one of the hardest problems in technology, teaching machines to drive, and they are doing it with an approach that the rest of the industry is now converging towards. Backed by SoftBank, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Uber, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Stellantis, Wayve has raised $2.8 billion in total funding and reached a valuation of $8.6 billion. With over 1,000 employees across London, Silicon Valley, Vancouver, Leonberg, Herzliya, and Tokyo, Wayve is scaling fast while keeping its London HQ at the centre. What stands out on Glassdoor (4.4/5 from 112+ reviews) is how consistently employees praise the culture, the calibre of colleagues, and the quality of the technical work. People describe it as some of the most interesting work of their careers. Wayve also offers an on-site chef, private healthcare, competitive pay with equity, and a genuine learning environment where you work alongside world-class ML researchers and engineers. That said, some reviews flag that the pace can be intense and that working across global time zones can stretch working hours. If you are an engineer, researcher, or operator who wants to work on genuinely frontier technology with real-world impact, and you thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments, Wayve is a rare opportunity.
😃 What Wayve offers

💖 What makes Wayve unique
Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving, using an end-to-end approach where vehicles learn directly from real-world experience instead of hand-coded rules or pre-mapped environments. Its mapless, hardware-agnostic AI Driver integrates with global OEM partners and supports automation from L2+ through to L4. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in London, Wayve also has hubs in Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver and Leonberg.
💬 What employees say
"There’s a huge variety of people with different roles across different levels that I engage with almost daily at Wayve. Everyone is treated equally, and everyone’s opinion is valued."
