📋 Job Requirements
• Hold an ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualification, or equivalent.
• Bring strong experience managing UK corporate tax compliance within financial services or banking.
• Show experience preparing UK Corporation Tax and VAT returns.
• Understand UK direct and indirect tax legislation, including Corporation Tax, VAT, CT61, SDRT and R&D tax relief.
• Bring experience supporting Senior Accounting Officer obligations and tax governance frameworks.
• Apply excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
• Use Excel confidently with large datasets.
• Show experience working with HMRC and managing external advisers.
• Work independently and take ownership of all aspects of tax compliance.
• Bring a continuous improvement mindset and an interest in using technology and AI in tax processes.
• Explain complex tax matters clearly to non-tax audiences.
• Commute to the London office 2–3 days a week.

🎯 Responsibilities
• Own the preparation and submission of annual UK Corporation Tax and VAT returns for all Zopa entities.
• Manage all other applicable UK tax filings, such as CT61 returns and Stamp Duty Reserve Tax.
• Manage UK R&D tax relief claims and act as the main contact for Product teams contributing to them.
• Act as the primary point of contact for HMRC on enquiries, correspondence and compliance matters.
• Improve key tax processes through automation, standardisation and stronger controls.
• Support the annual Senior Accounting Officer certification and maintain the related control framework and policies.
• Own the Group’s tax risk register and make sure tax risks are identified, documented and mitigated.
• Support the year-end audit by preparing tax disclosures and provisions and answering auditor queries.
• Advise Finance, Product, Treasury, Legal and other teams on the tax impact of new products and transactions.
• Build relationships with business functions, tax authorities and advisory firms to support tax planning.
• Monitor changes in UK tax legislation and implement required changes on time.
• Make tax more accessible across the business, including running training where appropriate.
