• Join the Forward Deployed Engineering organisation within Professional Services as a Senior Technical Account Manager.
• Act as the named, persistent technical owner for a small portfolio of Vercel's largest enterprise customers, a peer to their VPs of Engineering and CTOs, and the single technical point of contact orchestrating outcomes across Support, Engineering, Product, and Sales.
• Take over the post-sales technical relationship a Solutions Architect would otherwise own, freeing them to focus on pre-sales and accounts outside your portfolio.
• Work in a billable, customer-funded role carrying no more than eight concurrent accounts, with no on-call, no production code, and no sales quota.
• Deliver continuity, in a team where Professional Services delivers outcomes and Forward Deployed Engineers deliver velocity: you are the reason a customer's third year on Vercel is more valuable than their first.
• Report to the Head of Forward Deployed Engineering, based in EMEA, with office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday if you live within commuting distance of London or Berlin.
📋 Job Requirements
• Have 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles at a platform, infrastructure, or developer tools company, spanning Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, Developer Success Engineering, Customer Support Engineering, Field Engineering, or hands-on technical consulting.
• Have personally owned customer relationships at the $1M+ ACV tier, including running QBRs, leading roadmap workshops, navigating procurement and legal, and surviving renewal cycles.
• Bring deep production experience with Next.js and the Vercel platform, having architected, debugged, and optimised production systems on it as someone a customer's senior engineer would trust on a Sev-1 call. This is non-negotiable.
• Speak fluently about App Router internals, ISR and caching strategies, Fluid Compute, the AI SDK, and the cost-optimisation patterns that separate a healthy Vercel deployment from a runaway one.
• Show a track record of getting things done across organisations without formal authority, holding senior internal stakeholders accountable and escalating quickly rather than letting issues drift.
• Write strongly for executive and incident contexts, compressing a complex technical situation into a one-page summary a CTO will read and act on.
• Sit comfortably as a peer to senior technical leadership, pushing back on a flawed decision with confidence and respect and leaving the relationship stronger.
• Be willing to travel roughly 4-8 times a year to customer offices for QBRs, roadmap workshops, and incident retrospectives, mostly within your region.
• Take over customer relationships from colleagues, absorbing context quickly and building trust with a customer who did not choose you.
🌟 Nice-to-have
• Have worked as a Technical Account Manager at a hyperscaler, infrastructure platform, or developer-tools company such as AWS, Cloudflare, MongoDB, Snowflake, Datadog, or GitHub.
• Have hands-on experience with AI agent development, particularly using the Vercel AI SDK, MCP servers, or similar frameworks.
• Have led FinOps or cloud cost-optimisation engagements at scale.
• Have run an annual technical roadmap workshop or Well-Architected Review-style engagement with an enterprise customer.
• Have moved from a delivery or support role into a customer-owning one, and can articulate what changed in how you operated.
• Have worked as a Solutions Architect or in Customer Success at a developer platform, particularly one splitting pre-sales SA from post-sales technical ownership.
🎯 Responsibilities
• Own the post-sales technical relationship for a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts, taking accountability over from the Solutions Architect at deal close through a formal handover and holding it for the life of the engagement.
• Co-own each account with the Account Executive, owning the technical domain while they own commercial, each with veto rights within their domain.
• Run a defined cadence with each account: weekly 30-minute check-ins, monthly business reviews, quarterly QBRs, and an annual roadmap workshop.
• Take ownership when an incident escalates or a pattern emerges across multiple incidents, driving the post-mortem, identifying the architectural root cause, and owning the remediation roadmap.
• Respond within 4 business hours to any P1 or P2 escalation routed to you, acting as the customer's escalation path when standard Support channels need acceleration.
• Spend the majority of your time on work customers don't yet know they need: architectural reviews, technical risk mapping, cost and usage optimisation, pre-launch readiness assessments, and translating Vercel's product evolution into business opportunities.
• Scope and hand off hands-on engineering work to Forward Deployed Engineers and deep audits to Professional Services, coordinating and tracking outcomes rather than delivering them yourself.
• Translate customer technical needs into signal for Product, Engineering, and Support, holding internal teams accountable to commitments made to your customers.
• Carry primary accountability for annual renewal of the TAM engagement, measured against a 90%+ renewal rate alongside CSAT, escalation responsiveness, and influence on Professional Services and FDE attach.
