About the role

💼 What you will do

• Craft innovative and user-focused solutions for Supabase's open-source database platform as a key member of the design team. • Collaborate closely with Product Engineers, Product Managers, Product Marketing Managers, and peer designers to take ideas from concept to completion. • Shape how developers experience Supabase at every touchpoint, driving clarity, usability, and craft across the entire product.

📋 Job Requirements

• Prototype and show ideas rather than talk about them, aligning teams with working prototypes, user flows, or high-fidelity mockups. • Prefer to collaboratively work with others who have different skill sets and different points of view. • Be actively building things outside of work through side projects and personal experiments, showing curiosity and a shipping mindset. • Move fast without sacrificing craft, balancing quality with speed and knowing when good enough is good enough. • Have high standards for design quality and user experience. • Be able to write code with AI and be comfortable designing for a technical audience.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have experience designing developer tools or technical platforms. • Bring experience conducting or applying user research to inform and validate design decisions with data. • Have experience creating reusable product primitives and design systems that scale across a growing product surface. • Have experience simplifying complex database or infrastructure workflows for developer audiences.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Align teams with working prototypes, user flows, or high-fidelity mockups, choosing the most effective communication method. • Anticipate potential pitfalls ahead of time and improve usability to resolve them. • Lead complex design challenges, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals. • Find alignment with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Success Engineers, Sales, Product Engineers, and Product Marketing Managers. • Conduct or apply user research, gather feedback, and use data to inform and validate design decisions. • Contribute to the overall product ecosystem, ensuring consistency and scalability across a growing product surface by creating reusable product primitives that can be extended and combined in different contexts.
