💼 What you will do

• Join the Group Statutory Reporting team, reporting to the Head of Group Statutory Reporting. • Play an instrumental role in meeting Group statutory reporting requirements as Starling expands internationally and considers an IPO. • Cover the consolidated Group accounts alongside solo accounts for Starling Bank Limited, Engine by Starling, and other subsidiaries and branches. • Take on a senior position suited to someone with significant technical post-qualification experience looking for a genuinely different challenge. • Get exposure to a wide range of opportunities as the Group charters new territories, expands its product ranges, and develops technology for customers in the UK and internationally. • Act as the key technical expert for Group expansion and other specific areas. • Work hybrid from the London office.

📋 Job Requirements

• Be a Big Four qualified chartered accountant with at least 10 years PQE in a listed, multinational financial firm in similar roles. • Bring a hands-on record of leading an IFRS consolidation and audit in a large international group, preferably banking. • Bring proven expertise applying complex accounting standards, particularly IFRS 9 and IFRS 2. • Bring advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Oracle NetSuite, and statutory reporting systems such as W-Desk Workiva. • Bring extensive experience writing technical papers for executive committees. • Present and communicate excellently, influencing at senior levels and holding technical challenges from auditors. • Bring an analytical mindset and a wide-angle view, spotting and implementing improvements as they arise. • Bring a can-do attitude and a willingness to get stuck in wherever required.

• Bring exposure to IFRS 15, ideally covering SaaS revenue models. • Bring exposure to an IPO process, which will be an advantage. • Bring experience presenting at executive committees rather than only writing for them. • Bring experience developing group accounting policies suitable for a listed entity. • Bring experience mentoring team members through the shift to a listed reporting environment. • Apply even if you do not tick every box, as Starling encourages people to get in touch anyway.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Own the timely and accurate preparation of the complex, multinational Group consolidation in compliance with IFRS. • Manage the end-to-end production of parts of the Group Annual Report and Accounts and interim reports, coordinating stakeholders and aligning with listed entity best practice. • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for external auditors, managing the group audit process to a smooth and efficient close. • Act as key technical expert across IFRS 9 and IFRS 15, guiding on complex SaaS revenue streams. • Own the accounting under IFRS 2 for all group-wide share-based payment schemes. • Develop, implement, and maintain group accounting policies, driving adoption of listed entity best practice. • Identify and implement improvements to the financial reporting process. • Mentor and develop other team members towards readiness for a listed reporting environment.
