Staff Backend Engineer

• Bring strong experience working on the backend of a technology product. • Bring a product mindset and make data-informed decisions. • Work comfortably in a team that deals with ambiguity. • Show interest in distributed systems and resilient software. • Bring some experience with strongly typed languages such as Go, Java, C or Scala. • Want to build a product you and the people you know use every day. • Be based in the UK.

• Write Go. • Bring experience with Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy, Kubernetes or Docker. • Show experience with AWS infrastructure. • Bring experience in fintech, payments or banking.

• Build and support a part of Monzo alongside product, design, research, mobile and data colleagues. • Test hypotheses with your squad to improve customer outcomes. • Write backend services, mainly in Go. • Design resilient, distributed systems that scale. • Share knowledge across the engineering organisation. • Contribute to open source software where possible.
