Staff Analytics Engineer, Borrowing

• Join Monzo’s Borrowing team as a Staff Analytics Engineer, working remotely from anywhere in the UK. • Shape how one of Monzo’s most complex, fastest-growing domains builds and uses data. • Architect a data layer spanning 12+ products and 1,700+ data models across multiple geographies. • Lead a major data architecture transformation as Borrowing expands into new markets. • Lead through influence rather than direct management, reporting to the Borrowing Data Director. • Earn £121,600–£164,600 plus performance-linked incentives.

• Show experience designing data architectures that span multiple products or domains. • Bring experience building governed, documented, versioned data products with clear SLAs and ownership. • Use dbt at scale, BigQuery or equivalent, CI/CD for data, testing frameworks and orchestration. • Design reusable feature layers for ML, dashboards, decisioning and regulatory reporting. • Discuss ingestion, streaming vs batch, schema evolution and infrastructure costs with platform engineers. • Connect technical choices to business outcomes. • Create leverage through patterns, design reviews and unblocking teams. • Communicate clearly from engineers to directors. • Be based in the UK.

• Bring experience with or curiosity about credit and lending products. • Show experience with regulatory reporting data. • Bring experience building feature stores for machine learning. • Show experience in fintech or financial services.

• Architect Borrowing’s data layer across 1,700+ models and 12+ products. • Set shared patterns for trusted, consistent and scalable data products. • Turn ad-hoc tables into governed data assets with ownership, SLAs and documentation. • Build feature stores and reusable assets for credit behaviour, repayment and risk signals. • Shape analytics engineering tooling and developer experience for an 80+ person organisation. • Keep data models coherent and comparable across geographies and product lines. • Partner with engineers, product managers, credit teams and senior leaders on the data estate. • Raise the bar for analytics engineers across Borrowing.
