About the role

💼 What you will do

• Help build the bank of the future, supercharging user engagement and building a bank customers truly love. • Lead data strategy at a company with over 11 million UK customers, where more than 80% of growth comes from word of mouth and referrals. • Work somewhere with a strong culture of data-driven decision making, where all data lives in one place and is easy to use. • Focus on impactful business questions, since 90% of day-to-day data decisions are already covered by self-serve analytics through Looker. • Join one of several Data Science teams across Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Fincrime, Wealth, or Core, allocated after the interview process to match your skills and aspirations. • Work from London, Cardiff, or fully remote within the UK, with ad hoc meetings in London.

📋 Job Requirements

• Enjoy working with cross-functional, fast-moving teams. • Think strategically about commercial products and how data-driven decisions unlock value for customers. • Get excited about mentoring other data scientists and analytics engineers. • Bring enthusiasm for experimentation and new data techniques that solve challenging problems. • Want to understand the nuances of the data and lay foundational knowledge for new products and features. • Hold opinions about how to measure success, and be willing to challenge the status quo.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring domain experience in one of Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Fincrime, Wealth, or Core. • Have set experimentation standards and best practice across a data function rather than a single team. • Have worked with Looker or comparable self-serve analytics tooling. • Have partnered directly with product, engineering, design, and research leaders on product iteration. • Use a preferred name to apply, as Monzo does not need full or birth names at application stage.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Lead the data strategy and keep evolving Monzo so managing money day-to-day stays magically simple. • Develop and execute best practices for experimentation that let the team make data-informed decisions. • Set standards collaboratively and work with data across Monzo, fostering knowledge sharing and continuously improving practices. • Work closely with leaders in product, engineering, design, and research to build and iterate on product ideas.
