Machine Learning Platform Engineer

• Build the systems that help teams across Monzo train, evaluate, deploy, and serve ML models and AI features safely and reliably. • Work on backend services, Python libraries, model lifecycle tooling, evaluation workflows, and low-latency serving systems used by internal ML engineers, scientists, and product teams. • A platform engineering role in the ML and AI space for someone who combines strong software engineering foundations with ML or AI context and enjoys building tools and systems for other engineers. • Work remotely from anywhere in the UK or from Monzo's London office, with flexible working hours and no pressure to come in.

• Combine solid backend engineering with real ML or AI platform experience such as ML pipelines, feature stores, model serving, experiment tracking, or LLM tooling. • Have designed and operated distributed systems that handle scale, concurrency, and failure. • Think like a platform engineer — focused on developer experience and removing friction for internal teams. • Be happy working across both Go and Python. • Enjoy ambiguity and want to shape a platform as it grows. • Have experience with strongly typed languages, writing and working on backend software. • Be curious about how systems behave in production including reliability, latency, quality, safety, and operational risk.

• Have direct experience with the team's technology stack: Vertex AI, Comet, Langfuse, Chronon, Feast, DataHub, or Bifrost. • Bring experience with AWS for real-time serving and online inference alongside GCP for batch compute and BigQuery. • Have experience building feature platforms and data workflows for ML teams. • Bring experience with AI observability, evaluation, and tracing systems. • Have experience contributing to open-source software or building developer-facing platform tooling.

• Build backend services, platform APIs, and production systems in Go for the ML platform. • Develop Python libraries, workflows, and tooling used by ML engineers and scientists. • Work on feature platforms and data workflows using Chronon, Feast, and DataHub. • Build and maintain model training pipelines and experiment tracking using Vertex AI and Comet. • Develop AI observability, evaluation, and tracing capabilities using Langfuse and Bifrost. • Manage real-time serving and online inference on AWS alongside batch compute on GCP and BigQuery. • Help internal ML engineers, scientists, and product teams move faster while keeping production systems reliable, observable, and safe.
