Analytics Engineer

• Join Monzo's Analytics Engineering team working at the intersection of data, engineering, and business collectives across Money, Borrowing, Operations, Financial Crime, and beyond. • Help build the Data Warehouse into a genuine competitive advantage for Monzo, supporting decision-making, Business Intelligence, financial reconciliation, and best-in-class analytics and Data Science. • Work as an individual contributor across a variety of projects, spotting patterns in how the Data Warehouse is built and optimising the BI platform, Looker. • Work remotely from anywhere in the UK or from Monzo's London or Cardiff offices, with flexible working hours.

• Have some experience and a passion for data modelling, ETL projects, and Big Data as an engineer, developer, or analyst. • Be confident with SQL and data modelling. • Be comfortable with general Data Warehousing concepts. • Have an eye for detail. • Be ready to be part of a growing team in new areas of growth.

• Have experience working with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse platforms. • Bring familiarity with Looker or similar BI tools for reporting and analytics. • Have experience with pipeline optimisation and cloud cost reduction strategies. • Bring knowledge of metadata management and testing standards for data warehouses. • Have experience working in multi-disciplinary data and engineering squads in a fintech or banking environment.

• Support the building of robust pipelines and data models downstream of backend services, mostly in BigQuery, that support internal reporting, machine learning, and financial and regulatory use cases. • Build with optimisation of the Data Warehouse in mind, spotting and raising opportunities to reduce complexity and cost. • Help define and manage best practices for the Data Warehouse, which may include payload design of source data, logical data modelling, implementation, metadata, and testing standards. • Follow established best practices and standards defined by the team. • Investigate and work effectively with colleagues from other disciplines to monitor and improve data quality within the warehouse.
