About the role

💼 What you will do

• Help Monzo better understand and improve the performance of its insurance pricing, sitting at the intersection of data, pricing, and growth. • Bring stronger customer, conversion, and market insight into pricing discussions as Monzo scales its first product line, Home insurance, with plans to expand into additional categories. • Work closely with Monzo's insurance partner, data scientists, and product teams to turn pricing, risk, and loss data into clear, actionable recommendations. • Work hybrid from Monzo's London office next to Liverpool Street station, with flexible working hours.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have experience in insurance pricing, risk modelling, or data science — ideally UK Home or another personal lines product. • Be highly analytical and hands-on with data, comfortable running pricing experiments such as elasticity testing, and using conversion, loss ratio, and risk data to drive actionable decisions. • Have enough underwriting and pricing knowledge to assess pricing assumptions, rating factors, and trade-offs using data. • Have a solid grounding in SQL and experience with data analysis tools such as Python, Jupyter, Looker, or similar.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have worked in a digital-first insurer, insurtech, or high-growth product-led environment. • Bring experience with price comparison websites or other highly price-sensitive distribution channels. • Have familiarity with underwriting concepts and insurer-led pricing discussions. • Bring experience building internal pricing capability including frameworks, datasets, and ways of working. • Have experience refining pricing segments, rating factors, and tiering to improve decision quality.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a clear view of day-to-day pricing performance, understanding where Monzo sits in the market and why. • Analyse pricing, conversion, claims, and loss ratio data to identify opportunities to improve growth and profitability. • Run and support pricing experiments such as segment-level changes and elasticity testing, including on price comparison websites. • Refine pricing segments, rating factors, and tiering to improve decision quality. • Work with the insurer to evaluate pricing opportunities, assumptions, and trade-offs, bringing the Monzo customer, conversion, and market insight lens. • Build a clear view of price competitiveness, especially on price comparison websites, and recommend actions to improve rank and conversion. • Work with Data Science to deepen analysis while independently driving core pricing work. • Help develop internal pricing capability including frameworks, datasets, and ways of working.
