Senior Data Engineer

• Join Moneybox’s Data Engineering team as a Senior Data Engineer, working hybrid with 2 days a week in the London office by the Oxo Tower. • Help shape how data moves through Moneybox as a senior technical partner to the Data Engineering lead. • Take significant ownership of the data platform, architecture and engineering standards. • Work hands-on with broad influence across Engineering and Insight. • Own problems from definition through to production with a high degree of autonomy. • Work with Azure, Databricks, Python, Spark, SQL and Terraform.

• Bring strong experience designing, building and running scalable production data pipelines. • Understand ETL and ELT architectures and patterns well. • Write strong Python, Spark and SQL for data transformation. • Show experience with cloud-based data platforms. • Design systems for reliability, observability, performance and data quality. • Understand data modelling and well-structured analytical data. • Make technical design decisions and own significant engineering work. • Explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. • Hold the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship isn’t available.

• Bring experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB, DynamoDB or MongoDB. • Show experience with messaging or event streaming, such as Azure Service Bus or Event Hubs. • Use infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. • Understand REST APIs, authentication and API security. • Bring experience working with sensitive or regulated data. • Show experience improving the cost and performance of large-scale data workloads.

• Act as a senior technical partner and help set Data Engineering’s direction and priorities. • Own and improve core data processing and analytical platforms for reliability and scale. • Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines and integrations. • Lead the design of significant data architecture and integration changes. • Partner with Backend Engineering and Insight teams on accurate data models. • Promote good engineering practices across pipelines, modelling and observability. • Keep data secure and appropriately restricted with InfoSec and Compliance. • Monitor and improve platform performance, efficiency and cost.
