About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join Marshmallow, the UK unicorn insurtech and lender, in a full-time hybrid role in its London Technical Claims team. • Handle Marshmallow’s most complex, high-value motor claims, often involving catastrophic injuries. • Work as part of a small, highly technical Large Loss team that acts as a centre of expertise across Claims. • Partner with Complex Personal Injury colleagues, reinsurers, panel solicitors, Underwriting and Pricing. • Deliver fair, commercially sound outcomes for customers and the business. • Gain broad exposure and grow your authority quickly.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring strong experience managing high-value or catastrophic motor bodily injury claims. • Hold current claims authority of at least £250,000. • Show deep knowledge of liability, indemnity, causation, reserving and future losses. • Understand the Ogden discount rate and complex medical issues. • Bring experience handling litigated claims under frameworks such as CPR, PPOs and MIB technical disputes. • Balance empathy for customers with proactive, commercial decision-making. • Investigate complex issues thoroughly and own your decisions through to settlement. • Explain technical judgements clearly and build strong partnerships with stakeholders. • Share your expertise and seek feedback to help grow the Large Loss function.

• Bring experience working with reinsurers on large loss claims. • Show experience using reserving tools such as PI Calc. • Bring a track record of identifying subrogation and contribution recoveries. • Show experience coaching colleagues or sharing technical knowledge across a claims function.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of high-value motor claims, typically above £250,000, through pre- and post-litigation. • Investigate liability, indemnity and coverage, and set proactive, commercial and empathetic claim strategies. • Reserve accurately for complex injuries and future losses using available evidence and tools such as PI Calc. • Identify recovery opportunities such as subrogation and contribution, and make sure the right teams action them. • Work with panel solicitors, reinsurers and internal teams to shorten claim lifecycles and control legal spend. • Help shape the Large Loss strategy while coaching colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.
