• Bring strong commercial Android experience in Kotlin, with Coroutines and Flow. • Bring the appetite to work in Swift to help maintain the iOS app. • Bring real experience of background execution and its failure modes, including foreground services, WorkManager, AlarmManager, and broadcast receivers. • Work comfortably with the Android runtime permission model, particularly background location. • Bring modern Android UI and architecture skills, including Jetpack Compose, structured concurrency, DI, local persistence, and HTTP clients. • Write tests for concurrency, not just happy paths. • Bring practical fluency with AI coding agents and a clear-eyed view of their limits. • Debug from evidence such as device logs, CSV traces, ANR and crash reports, and add targeted logging. • Leave long-lived, poorly understood code better documented than you found it. • Have regular access to a vehicle, as driver or passenger, for recording real test journeys.

• Bring existing iOS experience with Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit, and the CoreLocation background model. • Bring prior work in telematics, IoT, fitness or activity tracking, or navigation. • Bring BLE experience and familiarity with the quirks of both Bluetooth stacks. • Bring experience with location and sensor fusion, GPS accuracy, and filtering noisy signals. • Bring experience with Firebase, including Crashlytics, Analytics, and Remote Config. • Apply without an insurance background, as none is needed.

• Build background journey recording using foreground services, Activity Recognition, and geofencing. • Keep recording reliable through Doze, App Standby, and aggressive OEM power management. • Implement the iOS equivalent using CoreLocation region monitoring, significant location change, and background modes. • Build BLE beacon detection for devices in the customer’s own vehicle. • Capture GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope streams, assembling them into journeys for reliable upload. • Ensure required permissions stay granted and notify users promptly when they aren’t. • Build the customer-facing app, including dashboard, journey history, maps, mileage, discounts, onboarding, and login. • Handle release engineering, including white-label builds for multiple brands and staged rollouts. • Test heavily on physical devices by recording real test journeys. • Use production telemetry to track down bugs you can’t reproduce locally.
