Senior AI Engineer

• Join Awin’s AI Platform Team as a Senior AI Platform Engineer focused on security and governance, with roles open in London and cities across Europe. • Help Awin teams build, ship, and operate AI-powered products safely, consistently, and efficiently. • Define and implement the guardrails, privacy patterns, and safe defaults that let AI adoption scale responsibly. • Work on the safety and control layer of AI development, from PII handling to provider and model governance. • Build reusable platform patterns and automated checks instead of manual approval processes. • Partner with Security, Legal, Architecture, and product engineering teams across the business. • Work a four-day Flexi-Week at full pay, with no reduction to your annual holiday allowance.

• Bring strong software engineering fundamentals and experience working on production systems. • Bring practical experience in security, governance, privacy, compliance, or risk-related engineering. • Show clear hands-on experience applying those controls to AI- or LLM-powered systems. • Understand AI-specific risks, including privacy exposure, PII handling, unsafe outputs, provider risk, and misuse patterns. • Translate policy and risk requirements into practical engineering controls, patterns, and defaults. • Make AI systems observable, auditable, and safer to operate in production. • Work effectively with engineers, architects, and non-engineering stakeholders in Security or Legal. • Bring good practical experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript. • Work across the full lifecycle of a platform capability, from design through rollout and iteration. • Understand information security and design solutions with security in mind. • Apply unit testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment confidently. • Communicate strongly, both synchronously and asynchronously. • Work through ambiguity and help shape standards where the balance between safety and speed is still evolving. • Improve safety pragmatically, without introducing excessive bureaucracy.

• Bring experience designing or implementing guardrails for AI or LLM-powered systems. • Bring experience with AI governance automation, readiness gates, policy checks, or preflight validation. • Bring familiarity with tracing, auditability, and logging standards for AI systems. • Bring familiarity with evaluation workflows, regression checks, and production readiness practices for AI. • Bring experience assessing third-party AI providers or model usage from a risk perspective. • Bring experience with privacy-by-design patterns in data-sensitive systems. • Bring experience working in regulated or higher-risk environments. • Bring experience writing clear developer guidance and turning repeated risk questions into reusable standards.

• Define and improve practical guardrails and safe defaults for AI-powered systems. • Shape Awin’s approach to privacy, PII handling, and data-safe patterns for AI workflows. • Contribute to approved provider and model guidance, including validation and usage expectations. • Translate policy, risk, and governance needs into reusable platform patterns and engineering controls. • Define production-ready expectations for AI systems from a safety, governance, and risk perspective. • Build readiness checks, automated validations, and scalable governance that reduce manual approvals. • Improve logging, tracing, and observability so AI systems are auditable and safer to operate. • Help teams understand AI-specific risks such as unsafe outputs, provider misuse, and privacy exposure. • Write clear documentation, patterns, and guidance that teams can apply consistently. • Mentor others and raise the team’s maturity in AI safety, governance, and privacy-aware engineering.
