Lead Business AI Engineer

• Join Howden, a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart, in a full-time, permanent UK remote role. • Spearhead the development of AI-powered business solutions using Microsoft’s enterprise AI tools. • Lead a small team of AI Engineers building automation and Copilot-based solutions in a Microsoft 365 environment. • Combine hands-on technical problem solving in a low-code context with people leadership and delivery oversight. • Take a leadership role at the forefront of Microsoft AI and Copilot adoption within the organisation. • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Business Solutions teams to deliver impactful AI capabilities. • Drive real business transformation through Microsoft’s AI and automation tools.

• Show proven experience delivering business automation or AI solutions using Microsoft technologies such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft 365, and Azure Foundry. • Demonstrate an ability to lead or mentor technical teams. • Bring experience coordinating solution delivery, including planning tasks, reviewing work, and ensuring quality. • Bring strong familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services, especially Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, and cognitive services. • Work comfortably in a low-code environment, integrating AI services without heavy custom coding. • Solve problems hands-on and step in to unblock the team on complex orchestrations or integrations. • Communicate strongly with both technical colleagues and business stakeholders. • Translate business needs into solution designs and articulate progress clearly. • Be based in the UK.

• Bring experience with generative AI or Copilot features and similar AI assistants, which is highly advantageous. • Hold Power Platform or Copilot certifications such as PL-600 or AI-900, or equivalent experience. • Bring experience deploying or managing AI-driven solutions within enterprise business applications such as Teams or SharePoint. • Bring familiarity with ITIL or similar service operations frameworks. • Apply even if you have doubts about being a perfect fit, as Howden will get in touch if your profile matches.

• Lead and mentor a team of AI engineers, managing day-to-day work allocation and fostering professional growth. • Conduct technical reviews and guide the team on best practices in solution development. • Oversee the development and deployment of AI-driven business process enhancements using Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Azure Foundry. • Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet defined requirements and quality standards. • Architect solution approaches using low-code and no-code components across Power Platform and Azure AI services. • Step in hands-on with complex Copilot orchestrations or integration challenges. • Work with Product Owners to clarify requirements and Solution Architects to align with architecture patterns. • Coordinate with the AI Business Solution Manager on overall AI strategy and governance. • Champion secure, compliant AI development in line with data security and responsible AI policies.
