Head of Engineering - Developer Experience & Platform

• Join Awin as Head of Engineering – Developer Experience & Platform, with roles open in London and cities across Europe. • Shape how Awin’s engineers build, ship, and operate software at scale. • Own the end-to-end developer experience strategy, from vision and roadmap through to delivery. • Drive the organisation-wide rollout of AI-native and agentic development workflows. • Own the platform strategy on AWS and lead FinOps practices across the cloud estate. • Build and lead a team spanning developer experience, platform engineering, and tooling. • Work a four-day Flexi-Week at full pay, with no reduction to your annual holiday allowance.

• Bring significant software engineering experience with a hands-on coding background in a major language such as Java or TypeScript. • Bring a strong understanding of AI-native software development, including AI coding assistants, agentic workflows, and LLM-integrated toolchains. • Show proven leadership experience in developer experience, platform engineering, or developer productivity at a mid-to-large technology organisation. • Bring a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and what makes engineering teams highly productive. • Show demonstrable experience improving CI/CD practices, deployment pipelines, and developer tooling ecosystems. • Bring a strong AWS background, including infrastructure-as-code, container platforms, serverless patterns, and cloud-native architectures. • Bring experience with FinOps or cloud cost management, including budgeting, tagging strategies, and optimisation at scale. • Show a track record of delivering organisation-wide change programmes with cross-functional stakeholders. • Design and use developer experience metrics frameworks such as DORA, SPACE, or DX Core 4. • Lead, inspire, and grow engineering teams in a fast-paced, distributed environment. • Bring strong commercial awareness, managing budgets and making investment decisions with clear ROI thinking. • Balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, from vision through to execution. • Bring experience working in global, distributed engineering organisations across time zones and cultures.

• Bring hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot. • Bring experience with Terraform specifically for infrastructure-as-code. • Bring experience building internal developer platforms and self-service capabilities. • Bring experience with SRE practices and platform-wide incident management.

• Define and evolve the Developer Experience programme, including its vision, strategy, and roadmap. • Identify friction points and productivity blockers through data, research, and direct engagement with engineering teams. • Drive organisation-wide improvements to technology, tooling, and engineering processes. • Establish and track DevEx metrics such as DORA and developer satisfaction to guide investment decisions. • Own the developer tools portfolio and budgets, evaluating, procuring, and retiring tools. • Lead Awin’s AI engineering rollout, setting standards and scaling adoption across the organisation. • Evaluate and implement AI coding assistants, automated code review, test generation, and intelligent CI/CD pipelines. • Deliver enablement programmes including training, communities of practice, documentation, and workshops. • Measure and report on the impact of AI adoption on productivity, code quality, and time-to-market. • Lead cloud platform standardisation across the AWS estate, establishing golden paths and reference architectures. • Own AWS cost management and FinOps, including budgeting frameworks, cost allocation, and transparent reporting. • Build internal developer platform capabilities that abstract cloud complexity and accelerate self-service. • Build and develop a high-performing team and contribute to the engineering leadership group.
