💼 What you will do

• Join Zopa, the UK digital bank that built the world’s first peer-to-peer lending company, in a permanent hybrid role in London. • Join the Web Engineering team, which builds the web experiences behind customer acquisition, servicing and internal tools. • Create fast, scalable and accessible experiences that affect millions of customers. • Build and evolve modern web applications with Next.js, React, TypeScript and GraphQL. • Grow alongside experienced engineers while taking ownership of features and technical challenges. • Contribute across the full development lifecycle, from technical design to performance optimisation and experimentation.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring commercial experience building modern web applications with React, TypeScript and Next.js. • Understand frontend engineering principles, including component-based architecture and state management. • Build responsive, accessible user interfaces. • Show experience collaborating with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers on high-quality customer experiences. • Write clean, maintainable code and keep improving performance, reliability and developer experience. • Bring familiarity with testing, Git, CI/CD and Agile delivery. • Stay proactive and curious, with a genuine drive to learn and solve problems. • Commute to the London office 2–3 days a week.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring knowledge of technical SEO, Core Web Vitals and rendering strategies such as SSR, structured data and semantic HTML. • Show experience optimising applications for both traditional search engines and AI-powered search. • Bring experience with GraphQL. • Use observability tools such as Honeycomb or Grafana. • Show experience building customer-facing products in fintech, regulated industries or fast-growing tech businesses. • Bring experience contributing to shared libraries, design systems or platform tooling.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Build and enhance customer-facing and internal web applications using Next.js, React, TypeScript and GraphQL. • Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing and Backend teams to create intuitive, accessible and high-performing experiences. • Improve reusable components, shared libraries and engineering best practices across the frontend platform. • Optimise performance, reliability and accessibility using data, experimentation and customer feedback. • Take part in code reviews, testing, CI/CD and observability to maintain high engineering standards. • Take ownership of your work and spot opportunities to improve applications, developer experience and ways of working.
