Senior Software Engineer II - Investments (Java)

• Define how Wise's investment offering works from the ground up — shaping the product, the technical foundations, and every detail that makes it real. • Expand beyond Wise Assets to let customers invest in individual stocks, build long-term tax-beneficial money pots like ISAs and SIPPs, and manage more of their financial lives directly through Wise. • Challenge traditional banking by building a current account backed by real assets with daily returns, instant access, no penalties, and segregated bankruptcy-protected custody. • Work hybrid from Wise's London office.

• Have a strong product mindset and passion for user experience, prioritising work with customers in mind and making data-driven decisions. • Communicate effectively and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. • Work independently while also being a supportive team player, with work frequently involving cross-team collaboration. • Break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value. • Coordinate complex projects across different teams. • Have experience developing web applications and distributed systems in a production environment. • Have experience with common design and architectural patterns coupled with a passion for writing clean, performant, and well-tested code. • Show curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement. • Follow and advocate best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.

• Have experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation, and schema design. • Bring knowledge of Java and Spring Boot. • Have experience with a messaging system such as Kafka. • Bring prior experience building investment, brokerage, or wealth management platforms. • Have experience with zero-to-one product engineering, defining technical foundations from the ground up.
