Senior Software Engineer I - Stream Processing (Kafka & Flink)

• Join the Stream Processing team within Wise's Data Squad, providing the tooling and infrastructure that allows Wise to process transfers in real time. • Build the stream processing platform that enables services to do calculations and make decisions in milliseconds, powering validation, fraud detection, and anti-money laundering checks. • Provide the services responsible for data movement into the data lake, enabling product teams and analysts to make data-driven decisions. • Work hybrid from Wise's London office.

• Have experience with Flink and/or Kafka Streams. • Have experience building production code with Java and Spring. • Have experience with infrastructure automation tools. • Have experience building and operating distributed systems at scale.

• Have experience with Apache Iceberg for data lake table formats. • Bring experience building and operating Kubernetes operators. • Have experience designing pipelines used for real-time decision-making in the milliseconds range. • Bring experience helping product engineers adopt stream processing tooling and laying down best practices. • Have experience with AWS infrastructure for stream processing workloads.

• Design, architect, implement, and operate stream processing systems on AWS. • Help product engineers use the team's tooling and systems, laying down best practices and rules. • Build and support tooling to create pipelines used for real-time decision-making in the milliseconds range. • Continuously iterate on the services the team runs with a focus on availability, security, and ease of use. • Analyse complex requirements and deliver simple solutions to help teams achieve their mission with speed and confidence. • Work with technologies including Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg, Kubernetes operators, and Kafka Streams.
