Senior Software Engineer I - Account Integrity Team (FinCrime)

• Join the Account Integrity team at Wise as a Senior Software Engineer, safeguarding the platform against sophisticated financial crime on the front lines. • Solve complex, real-world adversarial problems to directly protect Wise's global customer base through cutting-edge machine learning, real-time transaction monitoring, and advanced data analysis. • Take end-to-end ownership of projects that deliver a direct, measurable impact on customer security. • Work hybrid from Wise's London office.

• Have professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages including the Spring framework. • Have experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic, ideally using React-based frontend applications with JavaScript/TypeScript. • Have proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, distributed, and concurrent systems. • Bring a strong product mindset, accountability, and the ability to drive projects independently, making data-driven decisions with the customer in mind. • Have experience with relational and non-relational databases including query optimisation and designing resilient schemas. • Demonstrate exceptional coding fundamentals, sharp problem-solving ability, and a commitment to Test Driven Development and best coding practices. • Communicate excellently to articulate complex technical concepts across teams including Product, Data Science, and Investigations.

• Have familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle including data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production. • Bring prior experience working on fraud prevention, account takeover protection, or financial crime detection systems. • Have experience with real-time transaction monitoring and building detection capabilities at scale. • Bring experience raising automation levels in crime prevention and detection workflows.

• Build and refine critical controls to protect Wise customer accounts from account takeovers. • Drive backend (80%) and frontend (20%) development for crime prevention and detection systems. • Deliver tangible, real-world impact by securing customers' money, accelerating product growth by raising automation levels, and helping engineer a world-class money transfer product. • Continuously improve financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems. • Take end-to-end ownership of projects focused on customer security.
