Engineering Lead - Account Details Experience

• Lead the Account Details Experience team on a mission to make Wise the first account people think of when they need to receive money internationally. • Own Wise's Account Details — helping customers discover, obtain, and use local account details to receive payments, salaries, freelance income, marketplace payouts, and more. • Lead a team of backend and web engineers, mentor and grow people, and work closely with Product to shape what gets built next on a platform that powers receiving money for millions of customers worldwide. • Work hybrid from Wise's London office, joining the team's 24/7 on-call rotation every 6–10 weeks.

• Have experience leading teams and expanding products to navigate ongoing growth. • Have a strong product mindset and passion for user experience, prioritising work with customers in mind and making data-driven decisions. • Communicate effectively and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. • Lead and inspire a team of engineers to prioritise building the right things in the right way. • Deliver work across multiple teams, coordinating efforts across the organisation through cross-team collaboration. • Break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value. • Have experience developing web applications and distributed systems in a production environment. • Have experience with common design and architectural patterns coupled with a passion for writing clean, performant, and well-tested code. • Show curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement. • Follow and advocate best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews. • Be part of the on-call rotation for critical services every 6–10 weeks.

• Have experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation, and schema design. • Bring knowledge of Java and Spring Boot. • Have experience with a messaging system such as Kafka. • Bring prior experience in payments, fintech, or international money movement products. • Have experience building receive-side payment products or alias-based payment systems.

• Lead a team of backend and web engineers, mentoring and growing people. • Work closely with Product to shape what gets built next and build the roadmap for the next 2 quarters together with the PM. • Build out the receive-to-alias experience and platform, enabling customers to receive money using identifiers like email addresses and phone numbers. • Make account details easier to discover and use, localise the experience in key markets, build trust that receiving is reliable and safe, and scale the platform efficiently for future growth. • Evolve a critical Wise platform that powers receiving money for millions of customers around the world. • Participate in the team's 24/7 on-call rotation and help the team improve it.
