Engineering Manager - Partner Proposition

• Join Utility Warehouse as an Engineering Manager for the Partner Proposition squad, working remotely from the UK. • Lead a small team of engineers, guiding both the technical direction and the people behind it. • Blend hands-on technical involvement with leadership. • Co-lead the squad with a Product Manager, shaping priorities and balancing new work with improvements. • Help strengthen engineering culture as the company grows. • Make sure UW just works for customers and Partners, like flicking a switch.

• Know the core tech stack, including gRPC, GraphQL, React, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes. • Bring experience taking responsibility for technical decisions and aligning them with strategy. • Show experience defining team goals and driving prioritisation. • Set OKRs with Product Managers and co-lead quarterly and annual planning. • Identify practices for security and SLOs, and lead metrics reviews. • Bring experience managing, onboarding and coaching a team of engineers. • Show experience in performance calibration and promotion reviews. • Foster a healthy team dynamic and resolve interpersonal conflicts.

• Bring experience with Go. • Show hands-on experience with gRPC, GraphQL, Kafka or Kubernetes. • Bring experience working on partner or B2B products. • Show experience in energy, telecoms or other utility businesses.

• Own the squad’s technical decisions and keep them aligned with company strategy. • Define team goals and drive prioritisation to achieve them. • Put practices in place to meet security and SLO targets, and coordinate on-call coverage. • Set OKRs, track KPIs and communicate progress to stakeholders. • Spot risks and blockers early and work with stakeholders to resolve them. • Staff the squad, coach reports and support their career growth. • Communicate company and department strategy to the squad. • Keep team OpEx and CapEx in line with budgets.
