About the role

💼 What you will do

• Work in cross-functional feature teams building and improving Starling's Android app, CI automations, and tooling. • Be empowered to make platform decisions and provide insight to team leads on projects. • Commit, review, and ship new code from the first week in a fully in-house banking platform. • Work with a codebase written entirely in Kotlin, using MVVM, Jetpack Compose with Material 3, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, and Hilt for dependency injection.

📋 Job Requirements

• Be able to understand and prioritise security when implementing new features, fixing bugs, or making technical improvements across all layers. • Have a particular focus on Accessibility along with writing clean and maintainable code. • Be a self-driven individual able to take full ownership of building, shipping, and maintaining code. • Have strong testing skills, working with UI/E2E and Unit Tests across all layers of the application. • Be able to work closely with QA engineers to ensure additional levels of testing on complex feature delivery.

• Work in cross-functional feature teams arranged across broader engineering groups to build and improve the Android app. • Make platform decisions and provide insight to team leads on projects. • Work closely with other Android engineers of varying experience levels and interests. • Improve and develop the Android app, CI automations, and tooling. • Design, build, and release new screens regularly with a focus on accessibility and clean code. • Participate in weekly release rotations, managing the automated release process from upload to app store rollout. • Meet weekly with the team to discuss pain points and potential improvements to the project.
