About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join Spotify’s Product Insights team as a Staff Data Scientist, based in London or Stockholm. • Work across the full content lifecycle for music, podcasts and audiobooks, from ingestion to delivery. • Help keep one of the world’s largest content catalogues safe, trusted and engaging. • Tackle complex, high-impact problems with both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. • Shape how content classification and taxonomy are evaluated, with a focus on safety. • Enjoy flexible hybrid working, with some in-person meetings.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring deep experience as a product data scientist at Staff level or equivalent. • Show a strong foundation in statistics and experience designing evaluation and measurement approaches. • Bring experience with annotation-based methods and settings where controlled experiments aren’t feasible. • Build metrics and reporting systems that support product or policy decisions. • Show experience building self-serve analytical tools or data agents. • Write SQL proficiently and use Python, dbt or similar tools for reliable datasets. • Use state-of-the-art LLMs in your analysis while ensuring quality and accuracy. • Influence senior stakeholders and communicate clearly across functions. • Bring experience in content classification, taxonomy, safety, policy or adjacent domains.

• Bring experience working with music, podcast or audiobook catalogues. • Show experience mentoring data scientists and setting methodological standards. • Bring experience partnering with operations teams on content moderation or review. • Know trust and safety or regulatory requirements for large content platforms.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Lead analyses of user behaviour and content data to shape product and strategy decisions. • Shape how content classification and taxonomy are evaluated and improved, especially for safety. • Design evaluation frameworks covering sampling, baselines, metrics and annotation approaches. • Build scalable metrics, dashboards and data foundations for self-serve analysis and agents. • Partner with Product, Engineering and Operations leaders to set priorities. • Raise the analytical bar through methodological leadership and mentorship.
