Director of Growth Product
About the role
💼 What you will do
• Lead one of Runna's four core product pillars — Growth — heading a cross-functional team of 8 across Acquisition, Onboarding & Activation, and Monetisation squads. • Report directly to the Managing Director and sit on the Senior Leadership Team, with accountability across the entire Product org, not just your own pillar. • Define the multi-year vision for the Growth pillar and connect the roadmap to company-level business goals across acquisition, conversion, and early retention. • Own the in-app growth surfaces: onboarding, activation, trial and paywall journeys, free-to-paid conversion, and early-retention loops. • Work hybrid from the Vauxhall office, ideally three days per week.
📋 Job Requirements
• Bring 10+ years of experience in product or growth product, with significant time leading teams and functions. • Demonstrate a track record of driving measurable growth outcomes in consumer subscription products across acquisition, onboarding, conversion, and retention. • Bring strong analytical skills and treat experimentation as a core operating discipline, running rigorous A/B tests and making clear decisions under uncertainty. • Bring hands-on familiarity with measurement infrastructure including server-side tracking, attribution, and event taxonomies. • Show the ability to operate at SLT level, raising the bar across an organisation and building genuine cross-functional partnerships with marketing, engineering, and data teams.
🌟 Nice-to-have
• Bring a strong personal interest in fitness apps and the broader health and fitness space. • Bring hands-on experience working in React Native mobile application teams. • Bring experience working on cross-product or cross-platform growth funnels spanning app, web, and partner platforms such as Strava. • Bring experience with growth product in a post-acquisition or high-growth integration environment.
🎯 Responsibilities
• Own and shape the Growth pillar strategy, connecting acquisition, conversion, and early-retention roadmaps to Runna's overarching business goals and the Strava ecosystem. • Drive in-product growth experiences that move first-time users through onboarding, activation, and into paying, committed runners. • Partner with the Director of Growth Marketing to build a tight, continuous loop between product and marketing so insights flow freely in both directions. • Build the data and measurement foundation including server-side tracking, attribution, and marketing automation tooling. • Line manage and develop PMs across your squads, identify skill gaps org-wide, and take an active role in hiring to raise the talent bar as the team scales.

🚀 Why Join - Our Take
Runna is one of the most exciting fitness startups in the UK right now, and the Strava acquisition only makes the opportunity bigger. In under four years from launch, Dom and Ben built Runna from a website selling personalised PDF training plans to a globally rated running coaching app, a finalist for Apple's iPhone App of the Year, and ultimately an acquisition by the world's largest fitness community. The team has grown to over 150 people across London and Boston, and Strava has publicly committed to investing further in growing both the team and the product. What stands out on Glassdoor (4.9/5 from 31 reviews, with 100% of employees recommending it) is how consistently people praise the culture, the kindness of their colleagues, and the quality of the leadership. Benefits are genuinely strong for a company this size: private health insurance, enhanced parental leave (up to 20 weeks fully paid), Strava equity, a smartwatch as you pass probation, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and a paid hour each week to go for a run during work hours. They operate a flexi-hybrid model, typically three days a week in their Vauxhall office. The team runs bi-weekly together, and Workout Wednesdays include exercise plus a free lunch. The main thing to be aware of is that this is a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can shift quickly, which some reviewers flag as a challenge. There is also a slight bias toward hiring passionate runners, though this has been improving. If you want to work on a product that helped millions of runners train, alongside kind and ambitious people, with the backing and scale of Strava behind you, Runna is a brilliant opportunity.
😃 What Runna offers
• Earn £145,000–£155,000 per year plus equity participation in Strava's long-term stock incentive programme. • Take 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with flexibility on when you take them. • Access private health insurance with Bupa and a workplace pension scheme. • Receive a free Runna and Strava subscription for yourself and three friends. • Get an annual budget to spend on gear, events, and the gym. • Access Headspace for mindfulness, Modern Health for mental wellness support, and Carrot for fertility and family-forming benefits.
💖 What makes Runna unique
Runna is on a mission to become the go-to global training platform for runners of every level, from first 5k to marathon. Selected by Apple as a global finalist for iPhone App of the Year 2024 and acquired by Strava in 2025, Runna combines world-class coaching, personalised training plans, and community to help everyday runners become outstanding.
💬 What employees say
"The founders are inspiring and genuinely supportive. The culture is healthy, collaborative and free of politics; everyone is moving in the same direction. It is fast-paced in the best way: no bureaucracy, no getting stuck, just constant forward momentum. The people are ambitious, kind and love to learn. Workout Wednesdays, where the whole team exercises together and then has a free lunch, should be mandatory for all companies! This place does not give me Sunday blues. I am genuinely excited to come in on a Monday morning."
