Site Reliability Engineer

• Join Paddle, the Merchant of Record that removes payment fragmentation for digital product companies, in a full-time remote role. • Keep different parts of the Paddle platform reliable as part of the SRE team within the Platform function. • Help engineers work better and more efficiently through automation and tooling. • Define production standards as code and smooth out sharp edges for product engineers. • Choose the right tech for the job and shape the tooling the team uses. • Work with Go, PHP Laravel, AWS, Terraform, Docker, Honeycomb and Cloudflare.

• Bring a software development background, with experience shipping and operating production services. • Show strong fundamentals in testing, code review, CI/CD and debugging. • Bring experience across the AWS ecosystem, including working with AWS solution architects. • Stay curious about AI and how it is reshaping software development. • Work collaboratively with a security-minded, detail-oriented approach. • Thrive in a fast-paced environment while doing things properly. • Bring knowledge of platform and ops concepts such as networking and Linux administration. • Show experience with microservices and distributed systems at scale. • Use monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb, Grafana, Pingdom or Incident.io. • Be based in the UK, Ireland or Portugal.

• Bring experience advocating GitOps methodology. • Show experience running cost optimisation workstreams across cloud infrastructure. • Bring experience with load testing and performance tuning. • Show experience building and testing disaster recovery processes.

• Develop and maintain tools that maximise engineering efficiency, including automated deployments and database upgrades. • Find processes that can be improved with automation, keeping developer experience as the main driver. • Create, maintain and test the disaster recovery process, including tooling to automate it. • Handle production incidents, write blameless postmortems and enrich operational runbooks. • Own monitoring, alerting and SLO tracking as hands-on SRE work. • Run performance investigations and drive tuning across apps, data stores and AWS. • Own cost optimisation through right-sizing, autoscaling policies, workload scheduling and storage tiering. • Use AI tools for code generation, investigation, automation and documentation.
