Senior Software Engineer - Go

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, highly reliable systems that power core Paddle capabilities, processing hundreds of millions of dollars per month. • Take initiative as part of a small team from initial concept, scoping, and implementation right through to rollout and ongoing ownership. • Collaborate alongside other engineers, product designers, data analysts, and legal and finance experts to have real impact on a financially-critical system used by a global customer base.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have a development background with Go. • Have experience designing and building systems to handle high traffic at scale in a cloud-based environment in AWS. • Enjoy collaborating with technical and non-technical departments. • Proactively find ways to improve code and team processes. • Have a strong understanding of the development process from design through to deployment, maintenance, and what that means for day-to-day development. • Have a strong understanding of API principles and best practices. • Have a proven track record of bias for action and strong customer focus. • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills, being comfortable working alongside both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Have proven success working with complex problems and ambiguity, maintaining high standards while balancing progression and perfection.

• Have experience working on payments, billing, or financially-critical systems. • Have experience with event-driven architectures and high-throughput transaction processing. • Have experience mentoring other engineers and leading technical planning of team initiatives. • Have experience in a SaaS or merchant-of-record business.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, highly reliable systems that power core Paddle capabilities. • Lead the implementation of key new features to a high standard from initial concept and planning through to monitoring and ongoing improvement, ensuring systems are built with correctness and precision. • Architect solutions that scale with growing transaction volumes and customers. • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and set a high bar for code quality and engineering standards. • Lead design discussions and architecture decisions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability. • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data, Risk, and Operations to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. • Shape product direction by providing technical insights, tradeoffs, and delivery estimates. • Partner with Customer Support or Operations teams to investigate and resolve production issues. • Level up the team's engineering practices through mentoring other engineers and leading the technical planning of team initiatives. • Act as a force multiplier by driving best practices and long-term decisions for the engineering community. • Contribute to shaping team and wider engineering culture to ensure Paddle remains an exceptional place to work.
