Engineering Manager (Subscriptions)

• Join Paddle, the Merchant of Record that removes payment fragmentation for digital product companies, in a full-time remote role. • Lead the Subscriptions team, the product at the core of Paddle’s recurring revenue engine. • Build the tools customers use to manage the full subscription lifecycle, from plan changes and proration to trials and flexible billing. • Shape a product that powers the recurring billing operations of thousands of companies each month. • Lead a cross-functional team of 4 to 6 engineers alongside a Product Manager. • Take a technical leadership role, though writing code is not expected.

• Bring experience with Go or similar languages. • Show at least 2 years of management experience with several direct reports. • Bring a genuine passion for developing people. • Show proven experience as a senior software engineer on complex, large-scale cloud systems. • Demonstrate a strong understanding of what makes a high-performing, sustainable engineering team. • Communicate excellently, leading technical discussions with engineers and non-technical colleagues. • Bring specific experience building products that handle payments, transfers and financial reconciliation. • Enjoy getting into the mechanics of money movement. • Work comfortably with financial, risk and legal stakeholders. • Handle complex problems and ambiguity while balancing progress against perfection. • Be based in the UK, Ireland or Portugal.

• Bring experience building or scaling subscription or recurring billing systems. • Show experience with high-traffic event-driven architectures. • Bring experience contributing to a company-wide data or metrics strategy. • Show experience shaping engineering principles across a department.

• Lead the delivery of initiatives from concept and planning through to rollout. • Manage and coach your engineers so they develop personally and perform together with impact. • Partner with the Product Manager to create a roadmap for sustainable impact. • Drive improvements to team processes and practices, with autonomy to change what is not working. • Oversee technical decisions and own the technical strategy for the product area. • Contribute to the role of metrics within Paddle’s wider data strategy. • Improve the reliability and scalability of a high-traffic, event-driven system. • Work with other engineering leaders on department-wide principles and practices.
