Senior Financial Control Analyst

• Join Monzo as a Senior Financial Control Analyst, working fully remotely from the UK with the option of the London or Cardiff office. • Help make sure the ledger is correct at every month-end as part of a team of seven qualified accountants. • Work on exciting challenges such as maximising the new SAP S4/HANA general ledger, expanding into the European Union and pushing forward with automation plans. • Support the scaling of Monzo in a controlled way while optimising financial control processes with the help of technology. • Work closely with all areas of Finance and the product teams, reporting to the Financial Control Manager. • Enjoy flexible working hours and trust to work at times that suit you and your team.

• Bring qualified accountant status with 2+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally in financial reporting or controlling teams within retail banking. • Show a strong understanding of technical accounting standards. • Demonstrate a great eye for detail and a good understanding of key financial controls. • Show an interest in the banking and regulatory landscape. • Communicate complex information in simple words for people with diverse backgrounds. • Take a self-starting approach to whatever needs doing, from making a bank transfer to pulling together investor reports. • Thrive in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment and embrace change.

• Use SQL skills to run reports and analyse data. • Bring experience of working in a retail banking environment. • Show motivation to improve and innovate processes, including through automation and AI. • Bring experience of financial reporting or controlling teams.

• Manage a tight month-end close process and group consolidation with the internal Finance team. • Write insightful management commentary based on a solid understanding of the business and its products. • Make full use of accounting system features to minimise manual elements of reporting. • Drive incremental process improvements through to the adoption of AI. • Support the year-end process by working with external auditors and the Financial Reporting squad. • Review new products and implement their accounting in the banking platform and accounting system. • Assess the impact of changes in accounting standards and propose accounting policies for new products. • Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and financial static data, and support the wider Finance team with forecasting, valuations, transfer pricing and tax policy research.
