About the role

💼 What you will do

• Work as a generalist across the full stack, which is built in TypeScript end-to-end. • Thrive in an environment of autonomy and individual responsibility while helping build the future of product development. • Work close to the founders and design on new concepts, with AI-powered functionality going into the core of the product. • Work across a stack that includes React, MobX, and styled-components on the frontend, Node, Postgres, Temporal, and Redis on the backend, a proprietary websocket sync framework, and an agentic workload system running at production scale. • Work remotely from anywhere in the US or Europe, with optional co-working offices in San Francisco, New York, and London.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have 5+ years of experience building customer-facing products at a high-quality software company. • Bring strong React and TypeScript fundamentals with experience across the full stack, covering browser technologies, Node, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL. • Show a track record of driving complex, end-to-end features with visible product impact, rather than incremental improvements and refactors. • Bring product sensibility, caring about UX, speed, and polish, and pushing back when something doesn't feel right. • Work comfortably without heavy PM overhead, helping shape the problem rather than only implementing a solution. • Take high ownership as a self-directed, full-lifecycle builder who carries a feature from idea to shipped. • Thrive in a remote, async-first environment on a lean, high-output team. • Have worked at a startup or a company with a genuinely high engineering bar.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have experience with Temporal or other workflow orchestration systems. • Have built real-time collaborative editing or data synchronisation. • Have shipped AI-powered product functionality. • Have built or scaled a widely used GraphQL API and SDK. • Have run services on Google Cloud with Kubernetes.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Work closely with the founders and design to implement new concepts and ideas. • Build AI-powered functionality into the core of Linear. • Update the realtime collaborative content editor used across all internal surfaces. • Build new user-facing features with beautiful and scalable UI components. • Obsessively improve application performance. • Refine software development processes to keep the team operating at high velocity.
