Privacy Engineering Director

• Serve as DuckDuckGo's privacy engineering leader, stepping in on the most complex, ambiguous, and high-stakes privacy challenges across all products. • Lead critical privacy initiatives that shape the future of private browsing, private search, and agentic computing. • Own high-complexity privacy projects from definition to delivery, evolve privacy triage and review processes, and build automation that reduces engineering toil. • Grow the next generation of privacy engineers while contributing significantly to privacy strategy across the company.

• Bring 10+ years of experience leading privacy reviews, audits, or technical privacy programmes at a consumer-facing product company with a large (1M+) user base. • Have 4+ years of privacy engineering leadership experience building infrastructure tools, data minimisation systems, or equivalent privacy-preserving technical solutions. • Hold Director, Head of, or VP-level experience with direct management and hiring responsibilities and meaningful technical scope. • Demonstrate proven ability to DRI high-complexity, cross-functional projects with minimal direction. • Have strong communication skills with a track record of translating privacy principles into practical engineering decisions across competing stakeholder needs. • Have experience improving organisational processes — identifying bottlenecks, implementing automation, and building scalable review systems. • Show passion for privacy and raising the standard of trust online.

• Have experience building privacy engineering frameworks for agentic or AI-assisted product workflows. • Bring expertise in designing technical solutions for private search index capabilities at scale. • Have experience with privacy-preserving technologies in browser or search engine contexts.

• Build a privacy engineering framework for DuckDuckGo's agentic browsing products, solving novel challenges around user data in AI-assisted workflows. • Design technical solutions to enable private search index capabilities while preserving strict privacy guarantees at scale. • Own high-complexity privacy projects end-to-end from definition to delivery. • Evolve privacy triage and review processes across the organisation. • Build automation that reduces engineering toil in privacy workflows. • Grow the next generation of privacy engineers through mentorship and leadership. • Contribute significantly to privacy strategy across the company. • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate privacy principles into practical engineering decisions.
