Senior Growth Engineer

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join Buffer's Growth Marketing team as a hands-on engineer building the web experiences, systems, and infrastructure that help Buffer grow. • Work spans building features and pages across buffer.com, interactive tools, referral systems, conversion flows, integrations with marketing tools, analytics and tracking systems, SEO infrastructure, and backend logic powering marketing features. • Help Buffer on its mission to reach the next 200,000 creators and small teams building their brands. • Shape how Buffer grows by building growth systems, experiments, and infrastructure that connect people with Buffer at the right moment.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have strong frontend foundations in React, TypeScript, and modern web development, and be comfortable going beyond the frontend when the work calls for it — writing backend logic, building API routes, and connecting third-party integrations. • Understand what it takes to grow something, whether through hands-on experience with SEO, analytics, A/B testing, and conversion optimisation on a marketing or growth team, or by growing your own product, startup, or side project. • Think beyond the immediate task, caring about how things connect and whether they'll hold up, while knowing when to ship and learn from real usage. • Thrive in remote, async environments, communicating clearly and working effectively across marketing, design, and engineering. • Have built AI into user-facing marketing features at scale and use AI tools daily to multiply your own output. • Have a personal stake in the world of content creation — whether through running a newsletter, building an audience on social media, or regularly sharing your own work online.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have experience with Next.js (especially Pages and App router patterns). • Bring familiarity with Segment, Google Tag Manager, Mixpanel, and BigQuery for tracking and analytics. • Have prior experience with Buffer as a user. • Have experience building referral systems, attribution systems, or localisation frameworks.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Own growth engineering projects end-to-end, from implementing a localisation framework for international audiences to building referral programme logic, attribution systems, and rebuilding tracking infrastructure for accuracy and reliability. • Build features on Buffer's marketing site that help people discover and try Buffer, shipping landing pages, interactive tools, and conversion flows. • Create benchmarks, calculators, and utility content that educate users and make Buffer useful before someone even signs up. • Shape marketing platform capabilities by building A/B testing infrastructure, developing programmatic page generation for SEO and AEO, implementing content management patterns, and building reusable components. • Drive experimentation and optimisation, setting up experiments, validating results, and iterating based on discoveries. • Maintain integrations with the marketing technology stack (Segment, GTM, Mixpanel, BigQuery), upgrade dependencies, optimise performance, and ensure accessibility. • Participate in the on-call rotation and contribute to ongoing system health for buffer.com. • Help shape engineering culture by pairing with other engineers, reviewing code, sharing knowledge about growth systems, and raising the bar for frontend work.
