In-House Legal Counsel

• Join Atom bank’s close-knit in-house legal team as Legal Counsel, working from Newcastle at least 2 days a week. • Take on an exceptionally broad role with exposure across the whole bank. • Advise on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, corporate finance, marketing approvals and customer operations. • Handle day-to-day drafting in-house, with limited reliance on external firms outside major transactions. • Learn by doing from day one, supported by informal coaching and mentoring. • Enjoy a 4-day work week at a digital bank making finance faster, simpler and more human.

• Hold a qualification as a solicitor with 1–3 years’ PQE. • Bring a solid grounding in general commercial law and contract negotiation. • Take ownership of a varied workload with energy and self-motivation. • Translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into straightforward advice for non-legal colleagues. • Thrive in a fast-paced digital banking environment. • Hold the legal right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship isn’t available.

• Bring experience with financial services regulation, Open Banking or PSD2. • Show experience advising on data protection and GDPR. • Bring experience with supplier, outsourcing or software agreements. • Show exposure to corporate finance, capital raising or corporate governance work. • Bring some in-house experience, although first moves from private practice are welcome.

• Draft, negotiate and advise on supplier, outsourcing and software agreements. • Advise multiple departments on day-to-day legal issues, including conveyancing queries, product terms and customer administration. • Give clear, pragmatic advice on financial services regulation, Open Banking, PSD2 and GDPR. • Support corporate finance, capital raising, wholesale activities and material business transactions. • Support corporate governance, including minute-taking for executive meetings.
