Engineering Manager, Guest & Host

• Lead a team of talented, diverse software developers within Guest & Host Services to prototype, build, and improve hosting services. • Balance shorter term business outcomes against longer term technical stability, scalability, and flexibility, aligning with cross-functional partners. • Join a team building tools and a global community that make it easier for people to host on Airbnb, focused on co-hosting and intuitive user-facing experiences that let people host together as a team. • Work with machine learning where it addresses real user needs. • Collaborate closely with Design, Product Management, Business, and other Engineering teams to brainstorm, prototype, develop, and deliver high quality product experiences. • Be based in London.

• Have 5+ years of engineering management experience alongside 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast paced tech environment. • Bring deep expertise with backend systems and complex data modelling in large-scale consumer applications. • Communicate and present excellently to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Bring an end-to-end, product-oriented mentality that transcends team boundaries and finds globally optimal solutions. • Show good judgement in making trade-offs between short-term business needs and long-term technical quality. • Collaborate strongly, finding common ground with a wide range of teams that may have conflicting goals and priorities.

• Have applied machine learning to user-facing product problems. • Have built marketplace or two-sided platform products. • Have grown an engineering team through recruiting and career development. • Have led investments into new technical capabilities that unlocked product innovation.

• Explore, shape, and develop new product experiences alongside design and product partners, from ideation through to implementation at scale. • Lead investments into new technical capabilities that push the envelope and unlock product innovation. • Collaborate with engineers to plan and sequence the delivery of new features, making the necessary trade-offs while communicating delivery plans clearly and celebrating successful launches. • Partner with peer engineering teams to integrate new features that touch different areas of the product. • Strengthen the team's partnerships with key stakeholders across Engineering, Design, and Product to turn ambitious feature concepts into reality. • Recruit and nurture exceptional engineering talent, investing meaningful one-on-one time to understand motivations and team dynamics while building tailored career development plans. • Foster an inclusive team culture that encourages collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation through calculated risks and a product mindset.

• Earn an annualised base salary between £120,000 and £150,000, dependent on training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. • Be eligible for bonus and equity. • Access company benefits. • Receive Employee Travel Credits.
