About the role

💼 What you will do

• Lead the implementation and ongoing operation of Wise’s Enterprise Risk Management framework tailored to the EU region. • Make sure new branch expansions, products, and Wise Platform partnerships align to the principles, governance, and standards defined within it. • Set and continuously adapt partner onboarding and ongoing monitoring standards, keeping them resilient to emerging risks and shifting regulatory expectations. • Focus on both technical and non-technical operational risks alongside financial risk. • Apply the Europe Risk Appetite, run risk assessments, design and monitor KRIs, and produce risk reporting. • Give clear, pragmatic risk advice to product and business teams so they can deliver new features safely. • Keep EU risk governance effective through second line policies, regulatory business plan input, and committee reporting. • Work from London, three days in the office and two from home, on 9am to 6pm hours.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring 6+ years of experience in risk management for EU or UK financial services institutions. • Bring strong knowledge of European or Belgian risk management frameworks and industry best practice. • Bring subject matter expertise in EU regulation such as DORA, outsourcing and third party risk management, safeguarding, and data privacy. • Bring experience implementing enterprise risk management programmes for financial services institutions. • Align work to the wider risk taxonomy across operational, financial, strategic, and intersecting risks. • Bring a strong understanding of systems, management information, and reporting systems. • Show a demonstrated track record of second line of defence independence, challenging and escalating where you have concerns. • Work independently and flexibly in a fast-moving environment.

• Bring experience of EU branch expansion or entity establishment. • Know platform or partnership risk from onboarding through to ongoing monitoring. • Bring experience presenting to executive management, regulators, and boards. • Bring payments or fintech regulatory experience specifically. • Enjoy drafting policy from scratch where gaps appear, then seeing it through to committee approval.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Set and adapt standards for partner onboarding and ongoing monitoring so they stay resilient to emerging risk. • Implement the enterprise risk management framework for the EU region, applying the Europe Risk Appetite alongside risk assessment, KRI monitoring, and reporting. • Advise product teams on resolving issues and developing new features. • Review, update, and approve policies owned by Risk Management as second line for new branches, drafting new ones where gaps appear and seeing them through to committee approval. • Support the drafting of regulatory business plans with second line risk input aligned to the framework. • Develop deep understanding of products and of group and regional controls. • Support the first line in developing control assurance metrics and make sure proportionate outsourcing oversight frameworks are in place for regional entities. • Present monitoring outcomes and updates to Wise EU and group committees, including executive management, the regulator, and the Board. • Give regular updates on incidents, issues, KRIs, product risks, and internal and external risk changes, escalating to group where needed.
