Legal Counsel

• Join the Engine Legal Team, reporting into the Senior Legal Counsel. • Cover the legal aspects a high growth company inside a successful bank needs to succeed. • Focus strongly on commercial contracts and related matters. • Get significant exposure to senior stakeholders across Engine. • Advise on the issues that arise in running a banking SaaS company. • Support the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel on Engine’s international expansion. • Work hybrid from London, within commutable distance of an office, with travel to other sites when necessary.

• Be a UK qualified lawyer with around 3 to 5 years PQE, though PQE is a guide only. • Bring banking SaaS or financial services regulatory experience, such as material outsourcing rules. • Bring commercial contracts experience. • Bring strong real-life experience drafting, advising, and negotiating commercial contracts in a technology and financial services context, ideally on both sell and buy side. • Bring good real-life experience advising on data protection issues. • Bring excellent technical knowledge and a solid understanding of contract law and principles, while staying commercially focused. • Work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and stay keen to grow within the organisation. • Bring strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills. • Travel to other Engine sites when needed.

• Bring experience with SaaS agreements, framework agreements, and software licences specifically. • Bring experience with supplier and intragroup agreements covering marketing, IT, technology, and outsourcing. • Bring experience instructing and managing external counsel on specialist or international matters. • Bring experience maintaining legal precedent documents. • Bring experience supporting international expansion into new markets. • Apply even if you do not tick every box, as Engine encourages people to get in touch anyway.

• Draft, negotiate, and advise on client-facing commercial contracts including NDAs, framework agreements, SaaS agreements, and other software licences. • Draft, negotiate, and advise on third party supplier and intragroup agreements across marketing, IT, technology, and outsourcing. • Advise on data protection matters across supplier arrangements, client agreements, and intragroup data sharing. • Advise on any issues that arise in running a banking SaaS company. • Support the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel on international expansion. • Manage multiple projects to tight deadlines and support colleagues so business-wide initiatives land on time and accurately. • Update and maintain Engine’s legal precedent documents. • Instruct and work with external counsel on specialist and international matters.
