About the role

💼 What you will do

• Work closely with the Group & FinCrime CMT Lead to create, manage, and execute global and UK-focused financial crime monitoring and testing programmes. • Protect Wise and its customers from financial crime through those programmes. • Partner with stakeholders across all three lines of defence, from Operations and Product through second-line Compliance specialists to Internal Audit. • Enhance internal controls and promote an overall culture of compliance. • Maintain monitoring and testing methodologies so they stay aligned with global regulatory requirements and industry best practice. • Keep FinCrime controls robust, scalable, and aligned with both global and local regulation. • Work from London, three days on site and two from home, on 9am to 6pm hours. • Travel abroad occasionally, roughly once a quarter, to keep global CMT efforts aligned.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring more than eight years of demonstrable experience conducting and leading assurance reviews and issue validation work within Compliance, Financial Crime, Risk, or Audit functions. • Bring strong knowledge of financial crime regulations, testing methodologies, and risk assessment frameworks, particularly UK rules and global compliance requirements. • Show a proven track record leading compliance monitoring and testing reviews across multiple jurisdictions. • Collaborate effectively with both local and global teams. • Coach more junior team members so they develop and deliver high-quality work. • Bring excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills. • Translate complex regulatory requirements into effective monitoring and testing activities. • Engage senior stakeholders effectively. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in law, finance, or a related field. • Base yourself in London and stay open to occasional travel abroad around once a quarter.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring experience from a payments or fintech environment, which is preferred. • Hold relevant certifications such as ACAMS or ICA. • Work with subject matter experts and data analysts to build monitoring dashboards. • Spot opportunities to streamline monitoring and testing and cut duplicated effort across regions. • Enjoy training first line teams on remediation practice rather than only reporting findings.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Group & FinCrime CMT Lead to define annual review plans and make sure they are executed on time. • Support the Lead with regular management and board-level reporting on key findings, trends, and risk levels. • Supervise control reviews end to end from scoping through to reporting, alongside issue validation work. • Make sure the team follows methodologies and best practice and that every deliverable meets top-quality standards. • Train first line teams on effective remediation practice so they can close actions confidently. • Lead the execution and roll-out of monitoring activities over key FinCrime risks, building dashboards and actionable insight with SMEs and analysts. • Create and maintain repeatable test scripts and documentation aligned to Wise’s global FinCrime obligations. • Maintain global monitoring and testing methodologies against regulatory requirements and industry best practice. • Work with senior stakeholders across all three lines of defence to keep CMT reviews aligned with regulatory and business priorities. • Provide guidance and training to junior CMT team members and cross-functional partners.
