Data Engineering Manager - Treasury Global Liquidity

• Join the Treasury Global Liquidity team and help design the foundations of the real-time liquidity observability stack. • Deliver key initiatives while contributing to the team’s technical strategy. • Build robust, scalable systems and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. • Have direct, measurable impact across multiple Wise products, since the team’s domain sits at the core of how the platform scales efficiently. • Work in an autonomous, cross-functional team, partnering closely with Product Managers, Analysts, Data Scientists, and stakeholders across Treasury and Finance. • Define the strategy, shape the roadmap, and deliver solutions together with those partners. • Work from London on a hybrid basis.

• Bring a strong software engineering background, with proven experience designing, building, and operating complex, reliable event-driven systems in production. • Work comfortably in a complex, high-stakes domain such as treasury, payments, or finance, and guide a team through its technical challenges. • Bring a strong sense of ownership, thinking beyond implementation to how the team’s work affects business risk, cost, and customer satisfaction. • Work closely with product and stakeholders to define requirements and prioritise the most impactful work. • Bring demonstrable experience leading and mentoring engineers across diverse domains and levels. • Guide a team towards being high-performing, collaborative, and supportive. • Lead by example, inspiring high-quality, maintainable code and high engineering standards. • Articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Navigate the trade-offs between financial cost, operational risk, and customer experience with commercial and product intuition.

• Bring architectural depth in distributed systems at scale. • Know treasury, liquidity management, or cash forecasting from the inside. • Collaborate with data scientists on machine learning models rather than just consuming their output. • Bring experience of building real-time observability or monitoring platforms. • Enjoy working on problems where the technical trade-offs are also commercial ones.

• Lead the development of a reliable, real-time view of Wise’s liquidity across multiple products. • Enable the shift from pre-determined restrictions and delays to an intelligent, dynamic customer experience. • Design and implement advanced monitoring systems that optimise financial resource management and drive operational efficiency. • Strengthen the foundational scaling strategy so Wise can operate with greater agility as it grows. • Engineer fine-grained control mechanisms that manage liquidity utilisation effectively. • Keep high-value transactions processing rapidly while maintaining strategic controls to manage flow. • Develop systems that automate the investment of surplus cash within strict risk and regulatory parameters. • Collaborate with data scientists on machine learning that forecasts cash inflows and outflows across all currencies and jurisdictions, enabling optimal cash positioning and minimising idle balances.
