Database Support Engineer

• Join Supabase, the Postgres development platform built by developers for developers, in a full-time fully remote role. • Help developers unblock complex issues and get the most out of the Supabase platform. • Work across Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions and client libraries. • Work closely with customers and engineering to improve product quality and developer experience. • Mentor junior team members and raise the bar for support quality. • Work from an EMEA time zone, with no overnight shifts.

• Bring 7+ years in technical support, databases, backend engineering, SRE or a similar field. • Know PostgreSQL deeply, including autovacuum behaviour, WAL growth, long-running transactions and table bloat. • Write high-performance SQL and optimise queries. • Troubleshoot complex setups, including multi-tenant schema patterns and distributed system behaviour. • Debug Edge Functions when failures get tricky. • Handle data migration issues such as pg_dump and restore, schema drift and failed migrations, and recover safely. • Bring hands-on experience with cloud hosting providers such as AWS. • Work comfortably in terminal and Linux environments. • Form and test assumptions quickly in high-volume situations. • Communicate clearly and empathetically during high-impact or time-sensitive situations. • Be resident in an EMEA time zone.

• Bring experience mentoring junior support or engineering colleagues. • Show experience improving documentation or internal tooling from ticket patterns. • Bring experience working async in a fast-paced, distributed team. • Show experience supporting developers building on an open-source platform.

• Investigate and resolve advanced customer issues across the Supabase stack. • Give consultative, proactive advice that helps advanced users optimise workloads and avoid common pitfalls. • Reproduce bugs, isolate root causes and propose workarounds. • Escalate to engineering with solid reproduction steps. • Ask targeted questions that turn incomplete reports into actionable cases. • Communicate clearly with users of all levels, especially in time-sensitive situations. • Spot patterns across tickets and recommend improvements to documentation, tooling and the product. • Mentor junior team members and raise the overall bar for support quality.
