💼 What you will do

• Develop and improve the vehicle trajectory and motion controllers that turn Wayve AI Driver outputs into safe, smooth, robust vehicle motion. • Work across different vehicle platforms and applications, covering both ADAS and AV. • Develop principled controls approaches and implement real-time systems. • Test in complex scenarios and refine Wayve’s evaluation pipelines. • Join the AV Engineering organisation and grow alongside a focused team of experts at the forefront of autonomous driving. • Make a direct impact on the AV industry. • Work hybrid from the London office, combining time in offices and workshops with working from home.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring strong fundamentals in control theory, with depth in one or more of optimisation, model-predictive control, numerical methods, or dynamical systems. • Bring practical experience developing, tuning, and validating control or motion systems on real-world physical systems. • Bring strong software engineering skills, including building reliable production-quality systems in C++. • Bring experience with latency-sensitive or real-time software. • Reason about and debug system-level behaviour in complex robotic systems across both software and hardware. • Be based in London for this hybrid, full-time role.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, tune, and validate control, trajectory-generation, and action-processing algorithms across vehicle platforms, operating modes, and challenging driving conditions. • Ensure robust real-world performance rather than results that only hold in testing. • Maintain and evolve the controls software architecture connecting AI Driver outputs to real-time vehicle actuation and feedback. • Implement and maintain production-quality, latency-sensitive control software in C++ for prototype, reference, and production vehicles. • Use simulation, closed-loop evaluation, and on-road testing to characterise controller behaviour, diagnose performance issues, and validate improvements. • Work with teams across Wayve to define controller interfaces and integrate with adjacent systems. • Enable new vehicle platforms and product features.
