💼 What you will do

• Play a key role in leading ecological projects, providing expert advice, and driving business development initiatives at a values-led environmental consultancy. • Contribute to creating sustainable environments while working a four-day week at full pay in a supportive and engaging workplace. • Work closely with landscape and arboricultural disciplines on diverse and complex projects where no two days are the same.

📋 Job Requirements

• Hold top academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences. • Be a CIEEM member, ideally working towards Chartership. • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework. • Hold excellent survey skills including UK Habitat Classification and specialised species surveys. • Have experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and local planning authorities. • Communicate proficiently in verbal and written form, ensuring clarity for both clients and peers. • Deliver robust and precise report writing and reviewing. • Show exceptional project management skills, leading and mentoring while delivering projects on time and within budget. • Bring a proven track record in business development and securing your own projects. • Hold a full UK driving licence.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Hold one or more Protected Species Licences. • Be working towards Chartered Ecologist status. • Bring experience with Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and the latest BNG metric. • Have experience with Habitats Regulations Assessments. • Show experience mentoring junior consultants and assistants. • Demonstrate experience working collaboratively across landscape and arboricultural disciplines.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Manage projects and liaise with clients across a diverse portfolio. • Carry out Preliminary Ecology Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments. • Deliver Protected Species Surveys, Reporting, Licensing, and Mitigation Strategies. • Scope, design, and lead ecological surveys. • Build strong client relationships and win work for yourself and the wider team to grow a standout client and site portfolio. • Mentor budding consultants and assistants within the ecology team. • Review and quality assure technical reports and deliverables. • Collaborate cross-discipline with landscape and arboricultural teams on complex projects.
