💼 What you will do

• Lead the Birmingham Ecology team as a dynamic, commercial, and operational Team Lead, working closely with Northern Ecology teams in Manchester and Leeds. • Collaborate with Regional Ecology Directors, technical leads, and wider business functions to deliver the Ecology strategy. • Combine people management, pipeline review, business development, and project delivery in a fast-paced, supportive environment with a four-day week at full pay.

📋 Job Requirements

• Hold an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences. • Be a full member of CIEEM, or a Chartered Ecologist or working towards Chartership. • Demonstrate a proven track record in the ecology or planning industry with experience in leadership, team management, and pipeline review. • Show excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyse data, identify solutions, and review written work to a high standard. • Have strong understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework relevant to the industry. • Communicate confidently and build positive relationships with peers, contacts, and clients. • Hold a full UK driving licence.

• Bring experience in sales and business development within an ecology or environmental consultancy. • Have experience acting as both Project Manager and Project Director on large or complex projects. • Show experience mentoring junior project managers. • Demonstrate experience analysing operational data including pipeline, opportunities, and sales actions. • Hold experience collaborating on HR decision-making, recruitment, and subcontractor management. • Bring experience working across multiple office locations or regional teams.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Work with the Regional Ecology Director to deliver targets for the Birmingham Ecology team as part of the annual Ecology Strategy and wider business strategy. • Support the Northern Ecology team in analysing operational data including pipeline, opportunities, and sales actions. • Collaborate on HR decision-making, recruitment, and partner subcontractor use in liaison with the HR Lead. • Work with the central resource coordination team to ensure efficient delivery of workload across the working area. • Partner with Technical Leads to ensure appropriate technical support is in place, identifying strategies to address skills gaps and regional requirements. • Complete the monthly Operations Report for the Birmingham Ecology team. • Collaborate with other office operational leads to problem-solve and support project and pipeline delivery. • Work with regional sales representatives to align sales actions to the wider sales strategy and team needs. • Provide project support as both Project Manager and Project Director, mentoring junior project managers on large or complex projects.
