Field Surveyor

• Assist the Tyler Grange team with ecology field survey work in a flexible role designed to fit around studies, other work, or life and caring commitments. • Suit both entry-level ecologists taking their first career steps and experienced ecologists looking for a different way of working with flexibility in the amount and type of work. • Work outdoors across South Wales with training provided for surveys and opportunities to shadow experienced ecologists in the field.

• Have evidence of the right to work in the UK. • Hold a valid full UK driving licence with access to a car. • Be a proactive team player who is reliable, punctual, and has strong communication skills. • Maintain a good attitude towards fulfilling all health and safety requirements. • Be passionate about working outside and learning about British ecology in the field.

• Bring previous ecology survey experience. • Hold relevant ecology qualifications or be currently studying towards them. • Show a keen interest in the natural world and British wildlife. • Be comfortable with occasional overnight stays to visit sites across the country. • Have experience conducting habitat, species, or Phase 1 surveys.

• Assist the team with ecology field survey work across sites in Cardiff and South Wales. • Shadow experienced ecologists to learn about ecology and the industry when new to the field. • Attend and visit offices as part of field survey support. • Travel to sites across the country with occasional overnight stays when required. • Attend online training sessions to develop survey skills and ecological knowledge. • Carry out surveys reliably and punctually while meeting all health and safety requirements.

• Earn £14.80 per hour in line with the 2026 Living Wage increase. • Work flexibly to fit surveys around studies, other work, or life and caring commitments with no fixed-term commitment required. • Receive training for surveys and learn from experienced ecologists through shadowing. • Access online training sessions and opportunities to visit offices. • Be matched with sites closest to your home location where possible. • Join a values-led company committed to raising standards within the ecology profession.
