Multigres Engineer

• Build the future of distributed Postgres by working on Multigres, Supabase's open-source distributed database system that brings horizontal scaling to Postgres. • Architect and implement critical distributed database infrastructure including sharding, consensus protocols, and materialisation systems. • Collaborate closely with the Postgres, networking, and infrastructure teams to push the boundaries of what is possible with distributed databases.

• Have deep technical expertise in database sharding, relational algebra, and Postgres internals. • Have strong knowledge of consensus protocols such as Raft, Paxos, and FlexPaxos, and distributed transactions. • Be experienced with stream processing, materialisation, and change data capture. • Have a track record of building robust, performant distributed systems with strong observability. • Be skilled in low-latency infrastructure and network protocol optimisation.

• Have experience contributing to open-source distributed database projects. • Bring experience with connection pooling infrastructure and intelligent workload isolation. • Have worked on change data capture pipelines at scale in production environments. • Show familiarity with the Supabase platform or similar Postgres-based developer platforms.

• Design and implement query routing logic for sharded databases. • Build consensus and replication systems to support distributed durability. • Develop materialisation pipelines for migrations and change data capture. • Contribute to connection pooling infrastructure and intelligent workload isolation. • Collaborate with the open-source community on Multigres development.
