Commercial FinOps Lead

• Own the commercial and vendor-management function for Supabase as a founding role, defining the operating model, source of truth for vendor spend, and standards from the ground up. • Run cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end across AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, CloudQuery, ClickHouse, and more, leading negotiations and renewals. • Apply the VIA operating model (Visibility, Insights, Actions) to keep vendor spend disciplined and well-governed, working closely with Finance, Engineering, Legal, and vendor partners.

• Bring 5+ years of experience in vendor/commercial management, procurement, FinOps, or technical/financial analysis at a senior, function-owning level. • Have owned vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and renewals, treating them as a lever on unit economics. • Have run procurement governance such as competitive-bid processes, benchmark analysis, approval thresholds, or managed-procurement partners. • Build cost dashboards and reporting hands-on using SQL and BI tools, and be comfortable with vendor and cloud spend data from AWS, GCP, and SaaS billing. • Have high judgment and be able to hold a position and drive alignment without positional authority. • Communicate clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences. • Have experience working in async or globally distributed teams. • Be energised by building a function from the ground up and navigating ambiguity.

• Bring experience with licensing and usage analysis to surface inefficiencies before they become surprises. • Have worked with managed-procurement partners such as Vertice while maintaining oversight and accountability. • Have experience coordinating cloud efficiency programmes from commitment to realised savings across engineering teams. • Show experience with tooling consolidation and right-sizing initiatives that led to measurable cost reductions.

• Own vendor relationships by running primary cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end, leading renewals and negotiations alongside Finance and Legal. • Run procurement governance by enforcing the competitive-bid process for incoming requests and managing larger procurement through managed-procurement partners. • Drive commercial VIA by owning spend visibility and unit economics, surfacing licensing and usage inefficiency, and driving renewals, right-sizing, and tooling consolidation to realised savings. • Build reporting and governance hands-on as the highest-leverage area in year one, creating dashboards, partnering with data teams to scale them, and owning the governance layer including spend policies, thresholds, and accountability. • Coordinate the cloud efficiency programme by keeping optimisation initiatives visible and tracked from commitment to realised savings, partnering with Engineering without taking over their delivery. • Hold the boundary on the role by owning the analytical, commercial, efficiency, and programme side of vendor management while keeping procurement partners assisting and FinOps retaining oversight.
