Legal Manager

• Work across the cutting edge of climate law in new and emerging areas, using your legal skills to drive forward innovative and strategic legal actions at Opportunity Green. • Lead legal work on decarbonising the European medium-to-heavy duty vehicles sector through corporate accountability and novel legal interventions, initially covering a period of maternity leave before supporting wider sectors. • Work closely with external legal counsel, a wide range of organisations, and Opportunity Green's legal team on strategic legal analysis, legal challenges, litigation, and legal advocacy. • Work a 4-day week (Monday–Thursday, 28 hours), based remotely anywhere in the UK with London office access, or in Belgium.

• Have a passion for using your legal skills to tackle climate change. • Be a qualified lawyer with evident post-qualification experience — this is not an entry-level role.

• Have experience in litigation and/or EU competition law. • Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and commitment to Opportunity Green's values, ethos, and purpose. • Have an ability to see solutions to complex problems through a creative legal lens. • Have experience writing high-quality legal analysis. • Show excellent attention to detail and an ability to work with technical and legal material. • Be a confident written and oral communicator who can adapt complex ideas for different audiences. • Have proven project management skills and delivery of projects with impact. • Demonstrate excellent time management with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate priorities. • Have experience managing stakeholders such as other NGOs, legal counsel, and funders. • Have line management experience.

• Lead legal work on decarbonising the European medium-to-heavy duty vehicles sector, developing and implementing legal interventions with support from external legal counsel and your line manager. • After the initial nine-month period, support legal work across other sectors and themes at the cutting edge of climate law. • Develop and implement strategic legal analysis to support decarbonisation, undertake legal challenges and litigation, and engage in legal advocacy including submissions to international courts, states, and the United Nations. • Work closely with a wide range of organisations to obtain technical and policy insight. • Contribute to funding proposals, develop campaign strategy, and provide legal input into communications. • Support other aspects of Opportunity Green's work as the organisation grows.
